Heilbronn / Neckarsulm
The bilingual (German-English) Josef-Schwarz-Schule in northern Baden-Württemberg follows an internationally-oriented school concept. The site consists of a primary school with reception. A secondary school facility was added in 2016.
The campus is an extraordinary learning environment in terms of its architecture and design, which is one of the many reasons that the Josef-Schwarz-Schule is on the exclusive list of MINT-friendly schools. To achieve this honour – a federal distinction under the auspices of the Conference of Cultural Ministers – JSS had to demonstrate pedagogic excellence in all fields related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The afternoon club programme is another key MINT component at JSS. A broad range of resources is available to the children, from robotics technology at the LEGO education lab, to clubs in the experimental kitchen, to on-site visits to the research laboratory operated by experimenta, our cooperative partners in Heilbronn.
The school also makes a special effort to recognize and encourage students’ individual strengths and achievements: gifted students in particular are supported via a comprehensive talent-coaching program. Students can experiment and continue to develop in the school’s learning houses, research laboratories, role-play rooms, science labs, crafts room, teaching kitchen, art studios, exercise room and three-pitch sports hall.
